Last week in New York City, the Tomorrow Awards Monster Judges were given the hard task of narrowing down the publicly voted shortlist into the best of the best and decide on the recipients of the very first Tomorrow Awards trophies. After hours of debate (which were captured on film, and are available for viewing right here), they finally settled on the five winners they thought should shape and inspire the future of our industry.

“We were thoroughly amazed by the quality of the entries in this inaugural session of the awards,” says Ignacio Oreamuno, Tomorrow Awards CEO. “Many of the entries shortlisted by our Public Judges were near-contenders, and it was an immense task for the Monster Judges to pick the best of the best. But when agencies rise to the challenge of creating truly revolutionary work, the judges must also rise. We’re grateful that they did so admirably.”

The selection was made based on the following criteria:

• The Tomorrow Factor: the entry raises the bar for what is possible, and is likely to set game changing future trends within the advertising industry.
• Creative Excellence: the concept behind the entry must be both inspiring and unique.
• Brilliant Execution: the entry must demonstrate a phenomenal level of craft
• Media Innovation: the entry takes full advantage of the latest technologies and media, or uses older media in truly new and exciting ways.

Judges abstained from voting if they had worked on an entry or if the entry was part of their agency or their network. In case of a draw in awarding the trophies, the judges debated the merits of each entry until a compromise was reached.
