Here is the video about what Google TV is really all about. It is not a piece of hardware or software but a platform into of itself. There is a whole lot of information about it on the net that do a better job of what it is all about. In addition to Intel and Sony other partners include the Dish Network and Best Buy. It will run off the android browser but will come with the chrome browser which will also have flash player 10.1 so for you Yanks Hulu will be a go.
Google TV devices will launch this year with Sony coming in the fall with its Internet TV and Blue Ray Players. One development is a unified search box that will get results from many content sources. It will be built into televisions but also come as another box for existing TV’s.
There are many possibilities with the marriage of web, TV built on the power of search by Google but this is also a very mature market with many complexities that will challenge Google in dealing with content providers and how updates are handled on the platform.
It is coming and coming fast and I am excited that the web is coming to the forefront of the living room experience in a way that makes it as much the centre of the action as the TV once was. For more information on everything about the Google TV platform check out the link below the video.
