Like "The Wilderness Downtown,” “3 Dreams of Black” (aka Project ROME) is thought to be an amazing online experience that will gather millions of music fans and show the benefits of WebGL and HTML5 so people care more about the browser they are using.
On May 12, we launched the ROME website (ro.me), which was the sole internet output channel for the entire ROME project. Viewers are able to climb inside and manipulate the animation. We use 2D animations in a 3D environment. Like the Wilderness Downtown, the tension between souvenirs and modern technology will touch users' nostalgia in an unprecedented way.
But “3 Dreams of Black” also goes further, touching different formats, media and audiences (music, movie, opera, event, book, website) in what could be one of the most acclaimed musical projects of our generation.
This project is a result of a seamless collaboration between well-known music video director Chris Milk; popular, award-winning musical artists Danger Mouse, Jack White and Norah Jones; and fueled by the latest web technologies employed by Google’s Creative Lab.
