At Google, we often think about how to translate traditional media into a virtual space. For this project, we thought about what a bookcase might look like if it was designed to hold digital books.

WebGL Bookcase is a digital bookcase shaped into an infinite 3D helix that moves up and down and side-to-side. It holds 3D models of more than 10,000 titles from Google Books, organized into 28 subjects. Books may be read on books.google.com or your phone or tablet via a QR code inside each book. To run the experiment, we recommend a fast computer and Google Chrome.
